Denis John Menke (July 21, 1940 – December 1, 2020) was a beloved father, Major League Baseball player, and coach, with a career spanning 40 years. Born in Bancroft, Iowa, Denis played 13 seasons with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, and Cincinnati Reds, earning two National League All-Star selections in 1969 and 1970. Known for his versatility, he played multiple positions and hit 101 home runs in his career, including a standout .304 batting average in 1970 with the Astros.

After retiring, Denis continued his baseball legacy as a coach for teams like the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cincinnati Reds, mentoring many future stars. Beyond baseball, he was a humble and loving man.
